In the early years (around 50 A.D.) Christians were fanatically persecuted by the Roman Empire. Because of this heavy persecution, believers were unable to build official places of worship, instead holding services in homes and often times in Roman catacombs surrounded by the dead. Christians suffered for centuries until 313 A.D. when Constantine the Great made Christianity legal. 6 years later, in 319, Constantine commissioned the erection of a grand church to glorify God. An Exceptionally Lavish Beach House
